Onion Pakoda Recipe To Make Your Rainy Evenings Memorable

The online fritters or online pakoda is absolutely a snack recipe of everyone’s choice. The online pakodas are normally deep fried fritters that people have as a snack item mostly in monsoon season. The pakoda with pyaz or onions are commonly deep fried along with besan coating or chickpea flour. Online pakodas are crunchy & crispy & the onions used give a wonderful flavor to pakodas.

Onion pakoda is prepared using besan batter & so many onions with some masalas. These pakodas, I personally love to prepare any time. Pakodas are once again fried fritters that could be made with any type of lentils such as moong dal, urad dal, besan/chickpea, chana dal, etc.

People normally eat onion pakodas in the evening time or any tea time snacks during rainy or winter season. This famous snack of India are also called as Bajji.

Ingredients to make Onion Pakoda:
  • besan-1 cup 
  • medium sized onions-3 - 4 
  • salt as per the tasteOnion Pakoda
  • red chilli powder-1 teaspoon 
  • turmeric powder-¼ teaspoon
  • green chillies-2 - 3 
  • curry leaves-5 - 6 
  • coriander seeds-1 teaspoon
  • Garlic ginger paste-1 teaspoon 
  • coriander leaves-1 tablespoon
  • oil to deep fry
Method to make Onion Pakoda:

  • Initially, in a mixing vessel, drop chopped curry leaves, onions, sliced green chillies.
  • Drop red chilli powder, salt, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder.
  • Include coriander seeds, coriander leaves etc.
  • Combine the whole mixture properly.
  • Cautiously keep dropping the besan & keep mixing it.
  • You can include more besan if needed.
  • Sprinkle water drops to give it a mix.
  • Do not make the dough so thick.
  • Keep the mixture so loose.
  • Be careful about the onions to coat well along with the flour.
  • Heat oil in wok & drop the tiny parts of the mix in oil.
  • Deep fry with sim flame to moderate flame till we get golden brown color on every sides.
  • Take them out of the oil to distribute on an absorbent paper.
  • Serve the onion pakoda with green dips or sauce or ketchup.
